2018 Preview – Industrial

By February 16, 2018 No Comments

There’s no doubt that manufacturing is undergoing a digital transformation. Technologies like the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 are fast becoming the norm in many factories across the world, as manufacturers seek ways to become more efficient. But Industry 4.0 isn’t the be-all and end-all of manufacturing life in 2018…

Cost saving

In the fourth Deloitte cost survey, 88 percent of businesses said they are focused on cost improvement over the next 24 months. Usually reserved for businesses who are in trouble, this behavior is also set to be seen in businesses who are seeing their revenues consistently grow. Why? Well, there are potentially many reasons why in this case, possibly a habit developed off the back of the last financial crisis or a reflection of the current air of uncertainty sweeping through markets. Either way, manufacturers will yet again be focused on driving down cost in 2018.

At Trelleborg Antivibration Solutions, we recognize this trend and the need for businesses to continue to save money. Our low maintenance solutions, reliable stock levels and open, transparent communication means businesses can manage cost-effectively over the long term. With our products focused on reducing noise and vibration levels, critical assets suffer less wear and fatigue. This can be translated in to long-term tangible benefits, such as reduced maintenance, less downtime and significant costs savings across operations.

Borderless world

A recent report by Alibaba Group’s research firm AliResearch shows that global cross-border commerce is increasing quickly. Forecasts expect its value to hit the $1 trillion mark by 2020, to put this in perspective this figure looks even more rapid when considering global cross-border commerce was only $230 million in 2014. These figures are simply a reflection of the borderless world we now live in.

For Trelleborg AVS we possess a global knowledge of regulations and extensive product certification to ensure the solutions we create are totally compliant. This global expertise, combined with our ability to deliver the amount of stock required by a business through our global supply chain, both supports and enhances any business’ logistics operation. This flexibility in logistics also extends to our paperwork and packaging, allowing businesses to capitalize on opportunities and solidify operations.

Technology

Businesses of all sizes across the world are taking advantage of new technologies and systems. With the adoption of digitization enhancing agility and efficiency, the benefits of technology are becoming clearer and clearer. This is a trend that is only set to gather pace and continue to introduce new ways for businesses to compete to win.

However, with the influx of new technologies it is also still vital to consider the physical environment that is fused together by these digital technologies. If digitization is to reach its full potential it needs to be backed by a strong physical environment that has longevity, strong productivity and optimized health and safety. Our expert polymer technologies help create this environment through products that deliver maximum business value. All our solutions undergo stringent in-house testing before they are released to market, so businesses can be confident they’ll meet the high expectations demanded by the new technologies and systems being implemented into businesses.

2018 is set to be another progressive year for the world of industry and we will continue to build on our long history of solutions that pre-empt and meet the needs of our customers.
